Group Days at Valloires
Visits to the Abbey and the Jardins de Valloires.
Founded by Cistercian monks in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 18th century, the Abbey is surrounded by almost 20 acres of multi-faceted gardens and is well worth a day’s visit, if not longer.
Leading the way, a guide will explain the abbey’s history and the life of Cistercian monks on the site. Admire the Baroque church, the work of Austrian sculptor Pfaffenhoffen, the organ case, hanging angels and the gates of Vivarais. The classic cloisters come as a surprise, as do the salons decorated in Louis XV style.
Discover the gardens of a thousand facets with their French-style perspective, the plant cloisters, rose-gardens, the English-style gardens and the marsh gardens, a thrill for all five senses. An irresistible collection of some 5,000 plants.
The gardens are accessible to disabled persons.
