Needing nature

To each season its emotion. Set out to discover a surprising world, learn to observe and understand Nature in all seasons. All year round, activities are organised for children and adults, amateurs and enthusiasts.
Eco-design
The golf course is 6 kilometres long by 50 metres wide, so approximately 50 acres. The course blends in with its natural environment, the hundreds of acres of the Marquenterre. It is integrated to the Belle Dune eco-village, a pilot site for environmental preservation in partnership with WWF. Aware of the importance of preserving the environment, the golf course team reduced the use of phytosanitary products. The greens are watered automatically using water from the artificial lagoon.
Play in the great outdoors
At the heart of the dunes, the Belle Dune Golf course is an example of respect for the environment and the ecosystem.
Open your eyes
Between the holes, large natural areas are maintained and their biodiversity is managed in the long term. On the course, players are made aware of the protection of natural areas. Hawthorn, buckthorn, horse mint... Each hole is named after a local plant. In addition to the remarkable flora, it isn't rare to see a deer or a pheasant just close to a fairway.
The regular garden
The visit begins with the plant cloister that echoes the abbey's stone cloister. At the end of the central alley in the purest French style, the rose garden displays a remarkable collection of a thousand ancient, wild and modern roses.
The marshland Garden
Here the atmosphere is wilder. Below, where the water table is close to the surface, you can observe the marshland plants that enjoy the damp.
Island Garden
Go from island to island to explore the botanical collections, planted according to their colour and scent: Shadow island, Silver island, Viburnum island, Red leaf and Soft thorn island, and the Bizarretum...
The garden of the 5 senses
Fun and educational, this garden invites you to smell, touch, look, listen and even taste!
The Garden of Evolution
In tribute to Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, a botanist from the Enlightenment, this garden invites you to go back in time and retraces the 400 million year evolution of plants.
Please note: You can visit the Valloires gardens in all seasons. Book in the winter.
In Lanchères, the Maison de la Baie de Somme et de l’Oiseau blends into the landscape with its long and low buildings in the style of traditional Picardy farms. Outside, around the lake, you can watch the ducks, geese and other typical wetland birds. An educational tour is organised from hideouts.

At a crossroads
An unusual feature on the Somme Canal, the Petit-Port turning bridge is now a stop on hikers' paths. The Bridgekeeper's house has been turned into a guesthouse that can welcome up to six people. This unusual house is in an ideal location between Abbeville and Saint-Valery-sur Somme.
In the hamlet Petit-Port, peace and quiet is guaranteed in a beautiful environment. As for the guesthouse, it has the undeniable charm of yesteryear, with cosy and comfortable accommodation.
It is at a crossroads in the Baie de Somme hinterland. Towpaths, footpaths, cycle paths and horse-riding paths are all there for you to enjoy.
The Bridgekeeper's house is part of the Véloroute network.
